Half-Term family fun at The Walled Garden Moreton

Half-Term family fun at The Walled Garden Moreton

Over the half-term, there are so many exciting reasons to bring the family to The Walled Garden for a fantastic winter’s day out here in Dorset! Whether you’re into creepy crawlies or cuddly creatures, we’ve got something for everyone.

Signature garden trail!

Our popular Bug Trail is up and running until Sunday 23rd February, and it’s the perfect way to get outdoors and explore. For just £3, you can grab a map from the Dovecote Café and set off on a bug-tastic adventure through our formal gardens. Watch out for quiz questions and hidden ladybirds lurking in the bushes and plants! Once you’ve completed the quiz, head back to the café to collect your prize. No need to worry about getting every question correct – just give it your best shot and enjoy the hunt, you’ll still get a prize!

Get hands on with our exotic animals and bugs!

But that’s not all! We’ve got something even more special for those who love a bit of hands-on animal fun. Our Bug and Exotic Animal Experiences are now available to book, and they’re an absolute must for any young adventurer. For £8.50, you’ll be invited into our Bug Shed for an unforgettable meet-and-greet with some of the most fascinating mini beasts. From the Ghost Mantis to Stick Insects and Cockroaches, there’s plenty to see! And that’s not all – our Animal Expert Chrissy will introduce you to our larger exotic residents, including Bearded Dragons and our very own Bosc Monitor Lizard. If you’re brave enough, say hello to our latest arrivals: the Curly Haired Tarantula, tailless whip scorpion (famous from Harry Potter!), and a brand-new corn snake! This experience is suitable for children aged 5 and up, though under-8s must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Not a fan of bugs? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

Right next to our children’s play park, you’ll find our animal area, home to a herd of energetic pygmy goats, fluffy rabbits, guinea pigs, and even a mischievous ferret family. The little ones will have tonnes of fun here, running about and spotting our friendly animals. If you’ve had your fill of cuteness, we have 5 acres of formal gardens to explore.

Refuel, and relax…

And when it’s time to take a break, pop into the Dovecote Café for a warm, delicious treat. Whether you’re after a hearty lunch, a slice of cake, or just a cosy drink, we’ll have the fire roaring to keep you toasty on the chilliest of days. We’re currently offering 2 mains for £24 as well! We have a selection of fun colouring activities for the kids, and books to read, so they can be entertained while you sit back and enjoy your cuppa. So, gather the family, wrap up warm, and head down to see us for an amazing half-term day out!

Free parking. Dogs on leads welcome. Formal Gardens donation suggested entry of £3.
