Making your plans for the kids activities this half term here in Dorset?

This February and half term, it’s all about the bugs at The Walled Garden as our signature trail for children returns!

If you’re looking for a fun and educational activity for your little explorers, come and join our exciting Bug Trail around the gardens, on every day, running from Saturday 7th Feb to Sunday 22nd Feb 2026

Regular explorers will know the drill by now! Grab your map and make you way around the gardens to find all the quiz questions and learn fascinating facts along the way…that’s not all, can you find nine ladybird cutouts, hidden amongst the plants and bushes…complete the trail and claim your prize from the café! (You don’t need to get all the questions right or find every ladybird. Every map comes with a prize no matter how much of the trail you do, and evert map has a colouring competition on the back to win some cake!)

Maps are available for just £3 at the Dovecote Café, and no booking is required. Plus, dogs on leads are more than welcome, making it the perfect family day out. With plenty of outdoor space to explore and learn about nature, it’s a great way to keep the kids entertained and engaged this February. The café will also be offering our delicious menu, and our glorious selection of cakes for those looking to refuel afterwards. Don’t miss out on this insect adventure as we look to kick off spring early here in Dorset.
