Third Time’s the Pawfect Charm!

Third Time’s the Pawfect Charm!

It’s nearly time for us to open the gates of our third annual Dog Show here in Moreton, Dorset!

From 10.00am Sunday 13th July we welcome visitors old and new to a fun-filled day where the dogs are the stars of the show.

We have so many things to do for the whole family, such as a Bouncy Castle and outdoor soft play courtesy of South West Soft Play.

Face Painting with Savvy Sunflower and Axe Throwing with Adventure Pirates. Along with a penalty competition for little ones, paw patrol mascot, goat parade, and exotic animal and bug viewings!

The Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Service will be joining us on the day from Dorchester Fire Station allowing families to explore one of their fire engines.

We are also very excited to welcome Purbeck Ice Cream to the site who will be selling the most delicious ice cream! They will also be making sure your pups are well catered for by bringing along Pawbeck, their tail-waggingly tasty, iced treats for dogs!

What you Need to Know:

There’s some important information for visitors to know before the day so take a look and plan your day accordingly!

  • Entry is £3 for adults and Under 18s are free
  • Entry is FREE if you’re entering a dog into the dog show (£2.50 per dog per category)
  • Entry is FREE to season ticket holders
  • Bring sun-hats and sun cream – current forecast is suggesting a sunny day so make sure you keep yourselves safe in the sunshine!
  • Car parking is free – the gravel car park is being reserved for disabled badge holders while main visitor parking will be on the overflow field adjacent to the event
  • CASH ONLY (mostly!) – As we are in the middle of the Dorset countryside, Wifi and phone signal is scarce. While some stallholders may bring card readers to attempt payments, we strongly advise not to rely on this method and make sure you have enough cash for the day. Our nearest cash point is at the Co-Op in nearby Crossways. (Card payments in our café and main entrance are fine)
  • Running times will be confirmed on the morning of the event.
  • Bring camping chairs and picnic blankets to rest weary feet! We will have seating areas around the judging ring and some benches too, but as we predict the event will get pretty busy, we strongly recommend bringing something to sit on to watch the judging.
  • Dogs must remain on leads at all times
  • We will have doggy paddling pools and access to water bowls though people are advised to also bring their own. We have taps on site.
  • There will be a selection of food, drink and tasty treats in the event but The Dovecote Café in the gardens will also be open!

The dedicated web page for the event can be found here by clicking here.

A BIG Thank you!

During the day visitors can buy raffle tickets for £2 per strip! Every penny raised from ticket sales will be donated directly to our charity of the year, which is Dorset County Hospital’s Children’s Services. The money will help wards such as Kingfisher and SCBU, The Children’s Centre and Children’s Care at A+E.

We have had some amazing prizes donated to the raffle. So a big thank you goes out to:

High Score Arcade in Poole for sending us a family ticket to be used over the next 12 months.

Rock Reef in Bournemouth for the single rider ticket

The Tank Museum, Vurlands Farm, Sandworld and Bournemouth Oceanarium for their kind donations of family tickets.

Farmer Palmer’s, The Nothe Fort and Snowtrax have also passed on family tickets to the raffle.

Hewletts Pet & Country Store have been so kind as to donate three gift vouchers and two doggie gift boxes for you to win for your canine!

The Pet Experience have also kindly donated a gift voucher so you can pamper your pup during your next visit too!

Crossways Travel have donated a voucher to put towards your next booking with them and Veterinary Physiotherapist Lauren Cranny has donated a voucher to make use of her expert skills.

The Morrisons Weymouth store and Asda Weymouth store have donated some fantastic prizes for you to win, not to mention a great selection of prizes from Hall & Woodhouse.

And that’s not all, there are plenty more prizes to be won. You’ve got to be in it to win it so don’t forget to buy your tickets before the winners are called after Best in Show!

We are really looking forward to welcoming you, your family and our 25+ stallholders to our event field on Sunday 13th July!

We are monitoring the weather closely this week and should the weather deem too hot for our dog pals, we will take appropriate action.
