Meet our cute and exotic residents in this hands-on educational experience!
Visit the Walled Garden Moreton in Dorset over the summer holidays for a hands-on and educational experience with our exotic bugs and animals!
We are excited to confirm that our Bug and Exotic Animals experiences are back this summer!
We invite you into the Bug Shed for a meet and greet with our most weird and wonderful bugs, along with some of our larger reptiles too.
Our Animal Expert Daisy will give brave explorers an educational session that features our group of fabulous mini beasts such as the Ghost Mantis, Katydids, Stick Insects, Cockroaches and more. PLUS, you’ll meet the likes of Mishu and Sisu, our Bearded Dragons.
Each session lasts approx 45 mins
- Thursday 30th July – 11.00am
- Tuesday 4th August – 10.00am & 12.00pm
- Thursday 6th August – 11.00am
- Tuesday 11th August – 10.00am & 12.00pm

For adults – your ticket includes your entry to The Walled Garden formal gardens (usually £4, and you’re welcome to access the whole site with your ticket for this event)
We are also hosting our DINOSAURS IN SPACE TRAIL which is on every day for the duration of the summer holidays. Maps sold separately on site. £3 each (a prize with every map).

Important information:
- All attendees going in the bug shed require a ticket – including adults
- All animals are safe to handle, and non-poisonous.
- Event suitable for all ages, but only ages 5+ are permitted to handle
- All children between 5-9 years old must be accompanied by a paying adult, or if you feel your child would need support due to extra needs.
- On the day, present your ticket to the event at the Entry Hut, and you’ll be directed over to the animal area by the play park (adults do not need to pay garden entry if you have a ticket to the event)
- Our animal expert will give a small safety brief before the event and reserves the right to stop the animal handling at any time if they feel the safety of the animals is at risk
- Parents and carers are politely asked to step in if they feel their child is becoming disruptive. Persistent loud screaming or mishandling of the animals may result in your being asked to leave the event
- Adults not attending the event itself must still be on-site for the duration
Please be prompt and arrive a few minutes before your session. Session times are set and cannot overrun.

Due to the limited space. Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled.
On site we also have many more animals to see, our play park, ride on tractors, a new giant sand pit and the gardens to explore.
Stopping by the café when you visit? We have a wonderful menu serving breakfasts, lunches, sandwiches, snacks, cakes and cream tea.
The Walled Garden has free parking, dogs on leads are welcome (though dogs are not permitted in the bug and exotic animal experience)
